"The General" Memorial Golf Tournament at Quail Creek to Benefit College-Bound Students

By Jeff Knapp

May 19, 2006

Francis Tuttle Technology Center's Project HOPE is sponsoring their 3rd Annual "The General" Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 5, at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City.

The tournament supports a scholarship fund for Project HOPE students with financial need to help provide an opportunity to attend college. HOPE students had each been at risk of dropping out of high school.

Project HOPE boasts a tremendous success rate over the past five years. Many of these students have the desire and motivation to continue higher education, but do not have the financial support to do so.

The Donovan Memorial Scholarship Fund was formed in memory of General George M. Donovan, an adamant believer in second chances who was especially interested in the students in Project HOPE.

The tournament format will be a 4-man scramble, with a $125 per player entry fee, which includes green fee, cart and lunch and a hat. Contests include Closest to the Pin on Par 3 (4) and Longest Drive. First, Second and Third Place Teams will receive awards. Awards, drawings and an auction will immediately follow the tournament.

All proceeds will support the scholarship fund, which is used strictly for college aid. Tax-deductible donations will also be accepted. Please make checks to Donovan Memorial Scholarship Fund and mail to
