Francis Tuttle Technology Center Practical Nursing students brought home precious metal and honors from the Health Occupations Students of America National Leadership Conference held recently in Orlando, Florida. Among Francis Tuttle's national medal winners were:
Kathleen Jacob, Yukon, 2nd Place in Medical Terminology; Meg Shafer and Cody Johnson, both from Oklahoma City, 3rd Place in Health Education; and Wade Johnson, Brittany McFarland and Beth Veatch, all from Oklahoma City, Finalists in the HOSA Bowl competition.
Two students were also named National HOSA Scholarship recipients: Kathleen Jacob received a Nursing Spectrum $1,000, and Pam Migliaccio received a National HOSA $2,000 Scholarship.
More than 5,600 student delegates from across the nation participated in the 30th annual National HOSA Leadership Conference and National Competitive Events program. HOSA is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division of the Association of Career and Technical Education. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in HSTE programs, with a two-fold mission to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.
