Student Records




Access to student records is provided pursuant to and in compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended in 1988, and the Oklahoma Open Records Act.

Access to any student record requires the consent of the student (18 years or older) or parent(s)/guardian(s) - (of any student less than 18 years) except for
  • School officials – including teachers, who have a “legitimate educational
    interest” in a student
  • Officials of another school system in which the student seeks or intends to enroll
  • Officials of GAO, USDOE and state education department who need specific data to evaluate federal/state programs or enforce federal/state laws
  • Anyone to whom the student has made application for, or receipt of,
    financial aid
  • Accrediting institutions
  • Testing and research organizations, such as Educational Testing Service, as long as confidentiality is maintained and records are destroyed after they are no longer needed
  • Search warrant, court order or subpoena, provided that a reasonable effort is made to notify the named student (18 years or older) or parent(s) (less than 18 years old) in advance of compliance with the order
  • Statistical data that does not identify any student
  • Medical personnel or local/state/federal agencies in an emergency if common sense dictates release of the information is urgently needed to protect someone’s health or safety
