Description
This program prepares students to become Database Developers/Programmers. Database Developers/Programmers write, test and maintain programs that manipulate information stored in databases. We are certified by Oracle as an Oracle Academy member in the Advanced Computer Science and Business track, formerly known as the Oracle Academic Initiative (OAI). Using approved curriculum, we will prepare you for certification as an Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate.
The student must come into the classroom for orientation and software installation for approximately 4 hours. Course instruction, resources, assignments, and tests are available online. The courses available are:
-
Database Theory (36 Hours)
This course gives the student a general overview of database theory, including: relational database concepts, an introduction to Structured Query Language (SQL), an introduction to database design, a description of the services provided by relational database management systems, and an introduction to database administration tasks.
-
Oracle Database SQL Fundamentals (200 Hours)
This course offers the student an introduction to Oracle Database 10g database technology. It covers the basic concepts of relational databases and the powerful SQL programming language, providing essential SQL skills that enable the student to write queries against single and multiple tables, manipulate data in tables, create database objects and query metadata. This course also covers advanced SQL data retrieval techniques to retrieve data from database tables and how to apply advanced techniques in a practice that simulates real life, as well as topics such as datetime functions, hierarchical and correlated queries, multitable inserts and merge operations.
-
SQL Certification Preparation (30 Hours)
Students will use Self Test Software to prepare to take the SQL certification. These practice tests simulate the actual test, giving the student the same look and feel as the live exam. These tests offer a variety of testing modes, detailed scoring reports, flashcards, and detailed explanations of all right and wrong answers.
-
Oracle Database PL/SQL Fundamentals (186 Hours)
Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) is Oracle Corporation's procedural extension to SQL, the standard data access language for relational databases. It allows the data manipulation and query statements of SQL to be included in block-structured and procedural units of code, making PL/SQL a powerful transaction processing language. Students will learn about PL/SQL basics such as PL/SQL language structure, flow of execution and interface with SQL.
-
PL/SQL Certification Preparation (30 Hours)
Students will use Self Test Software to prepare to take the PL/SQL certification. These practice tests simulate the actual test, giving the student the same look and feel as the live exam. These tests offer a variety of testing modes, detailed scoring reports, flashcards, and detailed explanations of all right and wrong answers.
-
Programming Fundamentals (120 Hours, this course is optional)
This course covers the basic theory of programming and will give the students a good, solid introduction to programming. Topics covered include what is programming, how computers read code, basic coding concepts, problem solving, and debugging code. Key concepts in programming that are covered are consistent from one programming language to another. The hands-on text explains programming though numerous examples in a variety of languages.
Who Can Attend?
